Residential Programs : Central Air Conditioner Rebate
INSTALLATION OF NEW OR REPLACING YOUR OLD CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONER On average, it is estimated that an ENERGY STAR® rated central air conditioner uses 20% less electricity than a standard new air conditioning unit. Central air conditioners are rated based on their SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio). The SEER measures the energy efficiency of the central air conditioning system. The higher the SEER, the greater the efficiency and the more economical to operate the unit. Sizing and proper installation of the central air conditioning system are critical to energy efficiency, so we recommend that you work with a qualified air conditioning technician. If you are replacing an existing unit we recommend that you discuss the sizing of the unit with your technician. Changes made to and within the home since the last unit was installed may dictate a unit that is sized differently from the existing unit. The Central Air Conditioner Rebate is available to any residence or business for the installation of a new central air conditioner of 5 tons or less. The rebate is available for a new installation or the replacement of an existing system. New Holstein Utilities is offering a rebate of $100 for an ENERGY STAR rated central air conditioner with a SEER of 14.0 - 14.99. A rebate of $150 is being offered for the installation of a unit with a SEER of 15.0 - 15.99. For central air conditioning systems installed with a SEER of 16.0 or greater, customers are eligible to receive a rebate of $200Rebate applications are available from Wisconsin Focus on Energy web site or at the New Holstein Utilities office located at 2110 Washington Street.
